Kate Shaw named among most inspirational female entrepreneurs
December 2022
Kate Shaw, co-founder, and CEO of global clinical trial patient recruitment, retention, and engagement company, Innovative Trials, has been recognized as a leading female entrepreneur by the everywoman Awards.
Shaw was honored at an award ceremony in London last night (Thursday 8 December) after establishing Innovative Trials in 2010 and leading the business to global success. She was shortlisted for the Hera Award, which is reserved for the most inspirational women who run a business that has been trading for 10 years or more.
Shaw’s fellow finalists were shortlisted with Elizabeth Colleran ultimately winning.
Kate Shaw, co-founder and CEO of Innovative Trials, said: “Congratulations to Elizabeth Colleran for winning the everywoman Hera Award. It’s inspiring to be able to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with them and the other finalists, who are all achieving great entrepreneurial success in their respective fields. When I co-founded Innovative Trials my goal was to support the pharmaceutical industry to put patients at the heart of clinical research, improve patient diversity, inclusion, and equality in clinical trials, and accelerate patient access to new treatments. I never set out to be a role model, but I am honored to be seen as a leading female entrepreneur”.
Innovative Trials was co-founded by Shaw in 2010 after identifying a growing need for clinical trial patient recruitment support within the life sciences sector. Since then, she has led Innovative Trials to commercial success, supporting the pharmaceutical industry to accelerate patient recruitment for their clinical trials and engage effectively with participants throughout, ensuring they remain involved for the duration of each study.
To date, the internationally acclaimed company has supported around 300 clinical trials globally across more than 25 separate therapy areas and played a part in six new treatments being approved for patients worldwide.
With its HQ located in Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire, Shaw announced the opening of Innovative Trials’ first international office in July 2022. Based in the US, one of the world’s largest pharma markets, the move signals the company’s commitment to accelerating patient access to life-changing treatments within North America.
Shaw added: “It’s never easy starting your own business and I’m so proud of what we have achieved so far. Opening our first international office this year was a huge personal and professional achievement for me, due in no small part to our hardworking team, and I am excited for the next 10 years and beyond.
“I hope my story can encourage other women to launch their own businesses and achieve commercial success with their endeavors.”
The annual everywoman Awards focuses on celebrating female entrepreneurs and providing a platform for them to share their successes and challenges and inspire the next generation of female entrepreneurs. Winners were chosen by a judging panel, which included some of the UK’s top female business figures.
